Travelling across Australia in an offroad caravan… This idea had been in our mind for many years. We did a lot of re-searching on the internet to find a manufacturer to suit our needs before we found Explorex Caravans, and then the planning could begin.
Reaching out from our home in Switzerland and from the first contact with Stuart at Explorex we knew we were lucky. As we never had, nor let alone towed a caravan before. He explained everything and gave us great tips and advice. Together, through many emails and flying in for some meetings on site, we configured our “Dale River”, the perfect and fully self-sufficient offroad van.
With the van completed for our arrival in June 2020 we took delivery which included a thorough instruction and walk through of the van. After pick-up and with each kilometre our confidence in towing grew and with every set up for the night, we got more routine, it was time to live our dream.
From the west coast to the east coast, from the north to the south. River crossings, bush camps, outback adventure. Gibb River Road, Duncan Road, Great Central Road, the Red Centre, Birdsville Track or Great Ocean Road…you name it. Our “Dale River” never let us down. Whenever we had a technical question or a problem, Stuart and Dave were there to help. Fast and efficient, even in the deepest outback. Those four years on the road with our “Dale River” were the experience of a lifetime, A great time in an amazing country.
Thumbs up to the team from Explorex who helped us make our dream come true. In June 2024 we had to return to Switzerland, we did not want to leave as we were enjoying our van life in Australia so much. We sold our van to a lovely couple who we wish all the best, and always safe travels.
